As a first-year Computer Science student, I was exposed to many different suggestions about what I should do in college. Before my college started, I watched countless videos about skills, internships, programming languages, and roadmaps. However, all this information often left me confused about where I should begin.

When I entered college, I spent most of my time learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. During my vacation, I decided that I would finally start learning Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), as it is considered one of the most important skills for a Computer Science student.

I chose Java for learning DSA because it was already part of my academic curriculum, and I felt comfortable continuing with a language I had already studied.

In the beginning, learning Java syntax itself was challenging. After completing the basics, I started DSA and quickly realized that understanding concepts and solving problems were two very different things. Even after learning a topic, I often had no idea how to solve the questions related to it.

To improve, I practiced repeatedly. Sometimes I solved the same question five or six times over a period of days just to understand the logic behind it. Later, I discovered LeetCode and started solving easy array problems.

Although I usually understood the approach, I struggled to convert my ideas into code. I often wrote questions in my notebook and spent time thinking about the logic before attempting the solution. In the beginning, I encountered countless errors, and even simple problems seemed difficult.

There were many moments when I doubted myself. Sometimes I felt like quitting because progress seemed slow. However, I continued practicing little by little. Solving problems often took a lot of time, but with consistent effort, I started noticing improvement. Questions that once seemed impossible gradually became easier to approach.

My journey is still far from complete, and I know there is a lot more to learn. However, one lesson I have learned is that consistency matters more than speed. Progress may not be visible every day, but regular practice eventually builds confidence and problem-solving skills.

For anyone who is just starting DSA, my advice is simple: do not be discouraged if things seem difficult at first. Everyone struggles in the beginning. Focus on understanding the logic, practice consistently, and trust the learning process. Over time, you will see improvement.

At the same time, technical skills are not the only thing that matters. Along with coding and DSA, students should also work on their communication skills, as both technical knowledge and communication play an important role in personal and professional growth.

Introduction

My name is Gunjan . I am a second year B. Tech computer Science student at jawaharLal nehru university.

Why I chose Computer Science

I chose Computer Science beacuse i was curious about programming ,web development and the technologies behind Artificial intelligence

What I Am Currently Learning

Currently i am doing Data Structure And Algorithm (DSA) in java. And i also completed HTML(Hyper Text Markup Language) , CSS(Cascading Style Sheet) and Java Script.

Projects I Have Built

To apply my learning , I built several projects including a portfolio Website , an Amazon Clone , a Hostel complaint System and a Rock-Paper-Scissor Game.

Why I started This Blog

I started blogging beacuse i want to track my progress , to stay consistent , to document my learning and also for sharing mistakes and lessons.

Looking Ahead

Through this blog , I hope to document my progress , share what i learn , and connect with others who are on a similar journey. Whether i succees or struggle , this blog serve as a record of my growth as a student and developer.

If you're also a student learning programming , building projects , or trying to figure out career path, I hope my experience can help you avoid some of the mistake I make and learn alongside me.
